The aim of this page is to give you the reader some suggestions on the books I think worth a read to discover some of the history of the live music scene in the UK.
I have been very fortunate to have my own book published and also helped a great friend of mine self publish his stories too.
So back in 1974 I was tour managing Cockney Rebel and we played a few gigs in Europe supporting Wishbone Ash.
Kevin Harrington was the personal manager for Wishbone, or assistant tour manager as the posh title. Anyway in the November of 74 Wishbone was going back to the USA to tour and they couldn't get Kevin a visa, so they asked me if I'd like to take his position. It was a big break for me, going there for the first time with my favorite school boy heroes and I had a great time. I subsequently became life long friends with Kevin.
It was absolutely years later I found out he was the Beatles last roadie and I berated him for not telling his story. After several months and various get togethers I helped him self publish this book, and I'm so glad he did it. With the release of Get Back in 2022 it was great to have watched him in action all those years ago. It's a great little read and the price of a glass of wine, I thoroughly recommend both !

Here is a recent interview that Kevin made for Ken Michaels Radio on youtubeback in August 2021. I quote from the page "Kevin joins Ken for a lengthy discussion on his long journey in the Beatles world, first hired for Brian Epstein’s NEMS Enterprises, eventually becoming Brian’s personal assistant, working for the Saville Theatre with Tony Bramwell, joining Apple and becoming a “studio roadie” for the Beatles, witnessing sessions for The White album, the Get Back sessions at Twickenham and Apple Studios, the Apple Rooftop concert where he held John Lennon’s lyrics for “Dig A Pony,” and the Abbey Road sessions. He even lived at George Harrison’s Friar Park for 5 months! After working for the Beatles, he lived life as a roadie for such big acts as Derek & The Dominos, Motorhead, Petula Clark and others! In 2015, Kevin told his story in the book “Who’s The Redhead On The Roof?” which currently is only available on kindle. It was pure joy to be talking with Kevin!
